Service Description

This 24 hour class is a comprehensive course designed for professionals looking to expand their AutoCAD skills from 2D drafting to 3D modeling. Taught by an Autodesk Certified Instructor, this hands-on training introduces essential 3D concepts, modeling techniques, and advanced tools, helping you create, edit, and visualize designs in a three-dimensional space. Please note, this course is intended for Windows users and is not designed for AutoCAD for Mac. This course is ideal for those already proficient in 2D AutoCAD commands and looking to build a solid foundation in 3D modeling. You will explore the 3D Modeling workspace, learning to navigate the interface and apply essential viewing techniques. Through practical exercises, you will develop skills in creating and modifying 3D objects, working with solids and surfaces, and transforming 2D designs into 3D models. You will also dive into advanced 3D editing techniques, learning how to refine models with cutting, joining, and modifying solids. The course covers creating sections, setting up camera perspectives, and generating animations to better visualize and communicate design intent. Additional topics include point cloud integration, converting objects between 2D and 3D formats, and setting up realistic renderings with materials and lighting. As 3D printing becomes increasingly important in design workflows, you will also learn how to create .STL files for 3D printing, ensuring your models are optimized for fabrication. Finally, you will explore how to generate 2D drawings from 3D models, helping you bridge the gap between design and documentation. Key Topics Covered: Navigating the 3D Modeling workspace and mastering 3D viewing techniques Creating and modifying solids, surfaces, and complex 3D shapes Editing and refining 3D objects in AutoCAD Rendering models with realistic materials, lighting, and cameras Generating 2D drawings from 3D models for documentation Working with point clouds and converting 2D objects into 3D Creating animations and setting up camera perspectives Exporting .STL files for 3D printing Prerequisites: To get the most out of this course, participants should have a strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, with at least 80 hours of experience in 2D drafting. Access to AutoCAD 2025.0 is required to ensure compatibility, as future software updates may introduce changes not reflected in this course.
